| The Castle Day Nursery is probably Worthing’s most established day nursery, and has been in the present ownership of Victoria Noyce for the past 17 years. Set within a large detached house with the addition of a purpose built 12 place baby unit. |
| |
We pride ourselves on being able to offer individual classes to cater for the various age groups, which in turn provide the children with more care and individual attention.
Meals are freshly prepared daily, including vegetarian and any other special dietary needs. The children are offered healthy snacks and drinks throughout the day.
The nursery is well situated for easy access to bus services, train station, the town centre and main trunk roads. |
| |
The children often go on outings which include trips to local parks, public library and the beach.
Regular visitors to the nursery include Fire Brigade, Police, local veterinary team plus their dog, dental hygienist, road safety officer and a mobile animal farm. |
| |
There are 2 classrooms within the main nursery that cater for 2 to 3 year olds and a toddler room which caters for 17 months to 2 years; these are all on the ground floor.
On the first floor we have 3 pre-school classrooms catering for children of 3 years of age and upwards. All these rooms incorporate a home corner area and graphic tables plus space to carry out a wide variety of activities.
The pre-school rooms have computers, printers and an extensive library of educational books and CD’s, thus, giving the children a basic foundation in IT knowledge. |

The bright and sunny purpose built baby unit can cater for up to 12 babies. There is a large open plan play area with double doors opening onto the secure garden. Leading off the playroom, are a separate sleep room, milk kitchen and nappy changing room.
Arriving at 08:00 and it’s straight in for a bit of play with lots of colourful toys. After breakfast its back to play and garden time. A freshly prepared lunch is served at 11:45 and teatime is at 15:45. During the day we provide all kinds of activities which include messy play, for example, feet/hand painting, custard and shaving foam, sand and water. Then there’s music and movement with musical instruments and bottle shakers filled with various items so as to give a variety of sounds. We have story time and singing and the children even have time for a sleep according to their needs. |
| The children get to play in our large enclosed garden everyday, morning and afternoon. The entire garden has low impact surfacing which allows play, come rain or shine. We even have umbrellas, raincoats and sun hats to beat the elements. |
There’s a great big shed full of toys and equipment so activities vary from day to day, these include slides and climbing frames, lots of bikes and tricycles, huge lorry tyre’s for climbing on, trampoline, dolls prams and buggies, chalks and graphic area. There’s even an undercover play area plus a number of little benches to rest on, in the shade of our trees, after all that play. Each classroom has its own planting areas for summer flowers etc. Our equipment is vast and varied and caters for babies and children up to 5 years of age. |
| |
We follow the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) guidelines for all age groups.
At the nursery we make all toys and equipment accessible at all times of the day and the children can tidy away and choose new resources at will, this enables them to choose and encourages them to tidy up and play together and develops independence in selecting and carrying out activities.
The staff do regular observations of the children and use these to fill out any developmental reports, these are kept confidential and the Nursery holds annual Parents Consultation Evenings for Parents/Carers to look at their child's report and work. |
Children start arriving from 08:00 and it’s straight into free play with activities that include cars, dollies, puzzles, telephone, keyboards and camera’s, construction toys, home corner and graphic tables. Time for a morning drink and snack, plus singing, story time, numbers, colour or shape work. Morning activities include garden play, painting, sticking, sand, water, play dough, junk modeling, cooking, music and movement. Then it’s lunchtime consisting of a freshly prepared meal. |
| |
| After lunch, the younger ones go to bed and the older children have quiet play. Once the younger ones are up, it’s back to play with various activities, games and garden play. Tea time at approximately 16:00 with story and singing afterwards followed by free play which can also include time on the computers using our a large selection of educational CD’s. All this fun, and then Mum or Dad come and take me home. |

The Castle Day Nursery Testimonials |
Address: West Sussex
2008
Dear Mrs Noyce and Castle Day Nursery Staff
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you and all your staff at Castle Day Nursery for making ------ time with you happy and enjoyable. From her time in the baby unit, through her toddler days, and now as a little girl, you have helped provide ------ with many fundamental skills and experiences. She has benefitted from the safe and caring environment that exists at Castle Day, and your assurances have helped ------ become more confident in her abilities and herself.
------ has thrived on your creative curriculum of activities, and in particular loved the themes: autumn, under the sea, and mini beasts. She has always been proud to bring her work home and present it to us, demonstrating the value you must place on encouraging each child and their progression.
The Christmas concert was, I believe, a true reflection of your commitment and dedication - it must have taken considerable time and patience to teach the children so many songs. ------ was very excited to be involved, loves singing and dressing-up so she was in her element.
Thank you most sincerely for the important role you have all played in ------ life, which will provide her (and us) with many happy memories.
Yours truly, |

Dear Mrs. Noyce,
I am writing to express my gratitude to yourself and your staff at The Castle Day Nursery for the provision of the excellent standard of care for our son ------. As we were first time parents we were anxious to find a good quality nursery which followed the national curriculum. The nursery came highly recommended to us and after initial viewing we felt he would be comfortable and in good hands.
Over the 4 years ------ has been at Castle Day his happiness has been of prime importance to us. The fact he looked forward to attending everyday was a glowing reference in itself. We are delighted with the outstanding level of care offered by all and the effort involved for your part in nurturing our son into a happy, loving and well balanced child.
------ has just started school - however Castle Day Nursery provided a solid foundation for his formative years in a warm, considerate, well managed and disciplined environment.
Yours in gratitude |
