We think we have the best nursery site in Hartlepool, a perfect blend of security, privacy, accessibility and fantastic outdoor play.

As a brand new day nursery we are immensely proud of our facilities, and we have set very high standards for every aspect of the care we provide to your children and the service we provide to you as parents.

Sisters Helen and Caroline, who manage the nursery as well as working with the children, have years of experience in all aspects of childcare, from childminding to settings over twice the size of ours, and all our staff are qualified to at least NVQ Level 3.

Manager Helen said, “both Caroline and I are qualified and experienced in childcare and have talked for years about opening our own nursery. Going into partnership with our Dad, who will work on the business side of the company, leaves us free to concentrate on providing the very best service for both children and their parents.”

Steve says, “I am incredibly proud of Helen and Caroline. They are determined to provide the very best in childcare and I know they will succeed.

Ready Steady Grow! is situated in Elwick Road directly opposite Eldon Grove Primary School. It's a single-storey building with rooms that open directly into our spacious grounds.

Outside we have a patio area and plenty of grass where your children can play safely and securely. While the photos give an idea of the amount of space we have for children, you really do have to come and see for yourself – our outdoor area really sets us apart from every other day nursery.

Our private grounds have many mature trees, bushes and hedges in which children can play, create dens and have Bear Hunts (not real bears!). Everything is of course securely fenced off and under constant watch from our staff and by CCTV.

What's round here?

The garden at Ready Steady Grow Nursery

Everyone will have plenty of room to play, run, explore or whatever takes their fancy, and that's before we even leave the setting!

Directly behind us is the pretty and picturesque Burn Valley Gardens Park with a plethora of plants, trees and walkways as well as two fantastic play areas. Also close by is the Family Wood and Summerhill Nature and Outdoor Centre.

Yet we are close to the town centre - only minutes walk way - and accessible by public transport using the number three Stagecoach bus.

Ready Steady Grow! is a family partnership. We want to recreate a friendly, nurturing family atmosphere throughout our nursery for staff and children alike.

Dad Steve Wallace manages the administration of the business as well as being one of our chefs. Steve is a really enthusiatic cook, used to catering for large numbers of healthy appetites and has a level 2 certificate in Food Preparation & Hygiene.

Steve’s enthusiasm is soon apparent in the wide menu he has designed for your children. Old favourites such as cauliflower cheese and shepherds pie are complemented by a wide range of choices from the Mediterranean, India, China and France. And there’s no cutting corners with quality – the nursery staff eat with your children at their tables to provide role models, to bond and to educate

Steve will be known to some as Chairman of NHS Hartlepool, a part-time post he'll combine with his duties at the setting. Prior to this he has worked in management in the public and finance sectors and has extensive experience in sales, marketing and campaigning.

Daughter Helen is an experienced and well-qualified childminder with long experience and consistently good Ofsted ratings.

As the day-to-day manager of Ready Steady Grow! Helen is responsible for developing our Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) as well as ensuring the highest standards of both childcare and fun!

Daughter Caroline is an experienced Nursery Nurse with NVQ Level 3 qualifications in childcare.

Caroline has experience of large 100+ place day nurseries (twice the size of Ready Steady Grow!) and as well as bringing in the best aspects of other nurseries, she also knows the aspects to avoid to ensure we deliver a personal and individual service to each child - and their parents!

Reception at Ready Steady Grow Nursery

Mum Lynn works in the NHS as a Matron specialising in infection control.

While she won't play a part in the day-to-day running of the nursery her expertise of how to avoid infections from tummy bugs to contagious diseases has been invaluable in designing both our hygiene policies and the layout of the nursery.
